The Wizard of Oz
In 2004 KidzAct performed The Wizard of Oz to a sell out audience
of over one thousand. With a cast of around 90 with ages ranging
from just 5 up to 15 it was a huge undertaking, but we rose
to the occasion.
Below are a few quotes from the audience and people who took
part.
Well done Jo and all the cast of The Wizard of Oz. Brilliant
show. Everyone looked so happy. Worth all the hard work that
was put in
Thank you for all the things youve done and all
the stage crew. I really enjoyed taking part and I was sad when
it ended
Just a note to say congratulations on the superb performances
of The Wizard of Oz. The children were all fantastic and I would
like to thank you and all your helpers for all the hard work,
sweat and tears it must have taken to produce such a great end
result
The best three days of my life
Bugsy Malone
Never one to shy away from experimentation, Bugsy Malone was our most technically demanding production in our 6 year history. We wanted to create an animation style atmosphere and achieved this by returning to the projected backdrops which were used in The Wizard of Oz.
Following on our successes with The Wizard of Oz in 2004 and our open air performance of Shakespeares A Midsummer Nights Dream in Dunnottar Woods last June, this production will brought together 70 cast members between the ages of 9 and 16.
Its 1929 and in New York, gang warfare rages between Fat Sam Stacetto and Dandy Dan OConlon as they fight for control over New Yorks Lower East Side. The mild mannered and sometimes unwitting hero, Bugsy Malone, gets caught in the middle of the action trying to earn money to get his girl, Blousey, to Hollywood to follow her dreams. Bugsy, and those he meets, discover that friendship, teamwork and understanding will get you far more than confrontation, fighting and intimidation. In the words of the final song; You Give A Little Love and it all comes back to you
Bugsy Malone, which includes such memorable songs as Bad Guys and Fat Sams Grand Slam, a wonderful, fun family show!
